In an effort to increase a larger movement towards gender inclusivity and racial equity in cycling and the outdoors, there will be an overnight women/trans*/femme bike touring adventure in Johnston County.

The event appears to be a collaboration between the Iowa City Bike Library, Johnson County Conservation and Bur Oak Land Trust.

The bike tour is scheduled for May 21-22.

Interestingly, on May 17 there is a pre-ride meet up at W/T/F Night — which may stand for women/trans/femme but could also presumably stand for what the…you get it.

The group will be cycling to public use areas and campgrounds with various activities taking place such as kayaking, hiking with a naturalist, foraging, fishing and conversation around conservation.

The event is inspired by Radical Adventures Riders.

It would be interesting to know if, unlike Ketanji Brown Jackson, the Iowa City Bike Library is able to define what a woman is.

  1. Oh my God, what will these reprobates come up with next? I’d rather do a rainbow flag burning than something like this!
