Republicans legislators State Representatives Eddie Andrews, Cherielynn Westrich and David Kerr have filed legislation that would establish daylight saving time as the official time in Iowa all year.

House File 2144 actually has two organizations registered in support of it — Iowa Mental Health Advocacy and Campbell/Patterson Consulting LLP.

Such efforts have been discussed in the past, but struggled to advance far in the process.

Previous conversations typically centered on such a decision being a regional decision or requiring a certain amount of neighboring states to also establish one set time year round.
