Congresswoman Cindy Axne drew criticism from her Republican opponent, David Young, for giving away her vote in Congress again.

Young’s campaign says that Axne failed to show up and do her job and vote.

“Instead, she gave Iowa’s Third District vote away to liberal Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin,” a release said.

“When Iowans hire you to do a job, they expect you to show up for work,” Young said. “Cindy Axne continues to fail to show up to work and instead is outsourcing the job of Iowa’s Representative for the Third Congressional District to Congressman Jamie Raskin of Maryland. What’s just as unacceptable is she continues to not tell her bosses why she’s not showing up to perform the basics of the job she was hired to do – to vote. If Cindy Axne doesn’t want to vote and show up and do the job she was hired to do – I will.”

Earlier last week Axne called on Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to resign, but she didn’t show up on Saturday to vote on the post office bill.

Raskin, who Axne gave her vote to, proudly touts on his website that he is one of the most liberal members of Congress.

This is the third time Raskin has served as Axne’s proxy vote. Votes missed included legislation dealing with police reform, D.C. statehood and post office reform.

Young, who served in Congress from 2015-19, never missed a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives.
