Des Moines Black Lives Matter shared some “guidelines” for white and non-black people at black-led events. The guidelines are listed below:

DO NOT make it about you. Be mindful of the space you take up. Don’t lead chants. Don’t make decisions for the group. Don’t center yourself.

DO NOT police black people. Anytime, ever, but especially in black-led spaces. Make room for black joy, black grief, black anger and black leaders.

DO NOT put black people in danger. At protests, do not post photos/videos/livestreams with black people’s faces. Don’t provoke or antagonize police.
