Since the beginning of the pandemic, Gov. Reynolds has taken a data-driven approach to combating the coronavirus that respects the unique situations and needs throughout our state. As infections are on the rise in virtually all communities in the heartland, I join Gov. Reynolds in calling on all Iowans to double down on measures to help stop the spread in a responsible manner.
Everyone should consider what they can do in their own way to help keep their families and communities safe and healthy. For the Grassleys, this means we are not going to have our typical large Thanksgiving Day family gathering. We’ve been wearing masks and practicing social distancing when we do encounter others. We’ve also taken part in virtual events in lieu of in-person gatherings and stepped up efforts to sanitize often.
Gov. Reynolds knows the dangers posed by the coronavirus as well as the harm that comes from shutting down Iowa’s economy. Commonsense steps like the ones announced today strike a good balance that encourages Iowans to go about their lives as safely and as normally as possible while keeping our state open for business.
