Senate Sessions — Bill would punish parent or guardian for dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to minor

Not quite as many subcommittees today as committee work will pick up this week. Highlighting the list of bills in Senate subcommittees today is a bill that relates to the dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor by the parent or guardian.

SSB 1144: Senate Study Bill 1144 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to the dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor by the parent or guardian of the minor.

Current law exempts parents and guardians from prosecution for knowingly disseminating or exhibiting obscene material to their minor child.

SF 298: Senate File 298 was filed by Sen. Mark Lofgren. It’s an act relating to the burden of proof in certain judicial proceedings involving school boards and rules adopted by the Department of Education.

SF 288: Senate File 288 was filed by Sen. Jake Chapman. It’s an act relating to purple marks or caps on top of trees or posts to indicate that unlawful entry constitutes criminal trespass.

SF 251: Senate File 251 was filed by Sen. Marianette Miller-Meeks. It’s an act relating to the provision of Medicaid coverage to pregnant women lawfully residing in the U.S.

SSB 1146: Senate Study Bill 1146 was proposed by the Judicial branch. It’s an act relating to reimbursement of witness mileage expenses.

SF 313: Senate File 313 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to notice and opportunity to repair construction defects in new construction.

SF 301: Senate File 301 was filed by Senators Jackie Smith and Jim Carlin. It’s an act authorizing city utilities to provide a reduced rate to certain persons based on age.

SF 287: Senate File 287 was filed by Sen. Jake Chapman. It’s an act relating to academic eligibility standards for public school students participating in extracurricular interscholastic athletic contests or competitions.

The bill requires the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union to jointly develop and implement a policy establishing academic eligibility standards for students participating in extracurricular interscholastic athletic contests or competitions.

SSB 1191: Senate Study Bill 1191 was proposed by Sen. Roby Smith. It’s an act authorizing savings promotion drawings under specified conditions.
