On January 19, 2021 Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines announced on social media that Dr. Amy Bingaman, an OBGYN, was joining their Women’s Health Clinic. Broadlawns is the largest taxpayer-funded hospital in Iowa.

According to the announcement, “Dr. Bingaman is a highly regarded OB/GYN, women’s health, and LGBTQ physician…Dr. Bingaman will provide a wide range of health services including: family planning, gynecological services, obstetrical and prenatal care, and LGBTQ Services.” According to the short biography on Bingaman, she is no doubt an accomplished woman, and by the comments on the post she seems to have lots of support from others in the community, including the Iowa State Director of Planned Parenthood, Erin Davison-Rippey, who commented,”Congrats to Dr. Bingaman & to Broadlawns! She is fabulous!”

But Broadlawns is not only hiring an OBGYN, they are hiring an outspoken pro-abortion and pro-Planned Parenthood advocate. Bingaman appears to be the go-to OBGYN for comments on why abortion should be supported:

On February 14, 2017, Bingaman told the Iowa Public Radio that without Planned Parenthood patients would have a difficult time finding providers, because providers like her are booked out for months. These comments were in response the Iowa Legislature voting to remove public family planning funds from abortion providers. (Iowa Public Radio)

On February 20, 2018, Bingaman spoke against the heartbeat bill at the public hearing hosted by the Iowa House: “Safe-legal abortion is a necessary component of women’s healthcare…Do not pass a bill in my lifetime to negate a woman’s reproductive rights…vote no and allow me to continue to care for women in the way they deserve.”

On July 3, 2019, Bingaman was quoted by the Des Moines Register in an article titled, “More Doctors Should Step Up to Provide Abortions.” “‘Your personal beliefs should not trickle into your job as a gynecologist,’” said Amy Bingaman, a Des Moines OB/GYN. “‘Nor should it make patients feel badly.’” In the article she goes on to discuss how difficult it is for physicians to abide by the state’s rules to reduce abortions such as providing an ultrasound and the patient providing consent.( DSM Register: More Doctors)

On August 27, 2019, again Bingaman was printed on the pages of the Des Moines Register singing the praises of Planned Parenthood: “She (Bingaman) was grateful she could refer patients to Planned Parenthood, which she called a “wonderful” provider.” (DSM Register: Title X Funding)

This past summer Bingaman cut videos for Planned Parenthood on why she supports Planned Parenthood and lobbied for viewers to give money so they could continue to provide services. (Why Dr. Amy Bingaman Supports PP) (PP North Central States)

From the examples above it is evident that Dr. Bingaman is fully supportive of murdering the unborn and in fact, praises those who hold the instruments of death. This is the doctor that Broadlawns, which is taxpayer-funded, chose to hire and praise. It is a real shame that Dr. Bingaman, who could be a great role model for young women, does not seek to help all women, for a baby girl in the womb is a woman too.
