Republican State Rep. Ann Meyer told voters in her district last October that she approves of at least some use of school vouchers.
Her Democrat opponent called them a “slippery slope.”
It was a defining issue during the race.
According to the Fort Dodge Messenger, Meyer said she could see some value in a voucher program.
She even cited an example of a parent who knows their child is going down the wrong path in their current school, but cannot afford to enroll the child in another school.
That is exactly — EXACTLY — what the Students First Act accomplishes.
“I do approve of school vouchers in some instances,” Meyer said.
But now, Meyer is saying unless the Students First Act changes, she does not support it.
