Reagan Osborne spoke at Tuesday night’s Jefferson City Council meeting in support of allowing anyone to use any bathroom based on their gender identity rather than biology. At one point, she compared being transgender to being black.
“It’s about discrimination,” she said. “When you ask for separate accommodations, that’s not equal. That’s not, um, that’s basically segregating. And, that’s basically, when you have a separate entrance for the transgender people, then, that’s putting in an entrance for black people. It is the same thing.”
She added that she would have no problem sharing a bathroom with biological males.
“A particular speaker before me does not speak, I am not that percentage of people who as a petite female myself is going to be threatened by seeing someone that I perceive as different in the restroom,” she said. “That is all.”
