In politics at every level, it is a very complicated system. So many parties involved. In years past we joked about “smoke-filled rooms.” The cigarettes and the cigars may not be allowed in the rooms where discussion, debate, even argument are happening, but you can bet your life, your future, your world on the fact that these meetings are happening, official, organized and otherwise!
All that to say that in the State of Iowa, if you are engaged at politics at some local level, you do need to press further up the chain to begin to understand who, what, where and why decisions are being made.
In December I chose to go to Des Moines to observe the Republican Party Central Committee meeting. It was interesting, educational and enlightening to say the least. Time well spent from my perspective.
I would like you to consider attending their next meeting which will be held on January 14 at 10 a.m. at the RPI headquarters in Des Moines. 621 E. 9th St.
Plan to attend, meet, greet, engage… listen and learn. It’s an investment of three to four hours until they go into an executive session. Share your thoughts when and where you can.
