Governor Kim Reynolds has announced 12-time All-American swimmer Riley Gaines as her special guest speaker for her 6th Annual Harvest Festival. The event will be held on Saturday, October 14th.
“Riley is fighting on the front lines of the most important women’s issue of our time,” said Gov. Reynolds. “She is not afraid to stand up for common sense and declare that biological men do not belong in women’s sports. Inspired by her fight, I am excited to welcome Riley to Iowa.”
“Gov. Kim Reynolds has been a leading voice in pushing back against the radical Left’s gender ideology” said Riley Gaines. “I cannot wait to celebrate her incredible record as Iowa’s governor. Under her leadership, Iowa has defended children from irreversible gender transition surgeries, stood alongside parents, and proudly defended women’s sports.”
Gaines competed for the University of Kentucky and holds 5 SEC titles. In the 2022 NCAA Women’s Swimming Championship, Gaines’ life was changed when the NCAA forced her to share a locker room and compete against Lia Thomas, a biological male. NCAA officials insisted on giving Thomas the trophy, despite tying Gaines down to the hundredth of a second.
Kim Reynolds’ 6th Annual Harvest Festival will feature many activities such as live music, pumpkin decorating, balloon animals, and BBQ. Here are additional details for the Governor’s 5th Annual Harvest Festival:
