2 p.m. – Senate Study Bill 3113:

Senate Study Bill 3113 was proposed by State Government chair Sen. Roby Smith. It’s a joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Iowa relating to the qualifications of electors.

The joint resolution reduces the voting age in the Iowa Constitution from 21 years of age to 18 years of age, except that a person who will be 18 by the next general election shall be permitted to vote in a primary election.

Eighteen is the current voting age for every election in the U.S. due to the adoption of the 26th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

2:15 p.m. – Senate Study Bill 3114:

Senate Study Bill 3114 was proposed by State Government chair Sen. Roby Smith. It’s a joint resolution proposing amendments to the Iowa Constitution relating to the gubernatorial line of succession and the filling of vacant public offices.
