Rasmussen Reports released a new phone and online survey of likely U.S. voters about the migrant caravan headed toward America.
Sixty percent of voters said the government should stop the caravan at the border. Just 30 percent of voters believe the migrants should be allowed to enter the United States temporarily until each of their cases can be individually reviewed.
Forty-eight percent of likely voters said it is a bad idea for President Joe Biden to stop construction of the wall. Forty-five percent said stopping wall construction is a good idea.
However, 55 percent of voters unaffiliated with either party say it is a bad idea to stop the construction. Only 36 percent say it is a good idea.
Eighty-two percent of Republicans want the caravan stopped at the border. Sixty-three percent of voters not affiliated with either major party agree. Even 38 percent of Democrats share the sentiment.
It is a rare issue in which there is no racial divide either. Sixty-two percent of white voters say they should be stopped, 55 percent of black voters agree, as do 58 percent of other minority voters.
Stopping the caravan at the border is a more popular idea now than it was when another caravan from Honduras approached in October of 2018. Then, 51 percent said they should be stopped and 38 percent wanted to allow them in.
