Earlier this year we were the first media outlet to break the story about Sen. Claire Celsi (D-West Des Moines) and her encouraging of a boycott against Wells Blue Bunny since the company’s owner donated to Congressman Steve King in the past.
Wells Blue Bunny is located in Le Mars.
Well, it’s Amber Gustafson’s turn. Gustafson is running for Iowa Senate District 19 according to her Twitter account. And she has Iowa-based Hy-Vee in her crosshairs.
Gustafson is also a volunteer membership and community outreach person for Moms Demand Action.
On Sept. 5, Gustafson tweeted that she asked the general manager of the Prairie Trail Hy-Vee if he’d prohibit firearms in the store.
“He said no,” Gustafson said.
She told the GM she’d be shopping at Walmart and Target until he changes the policy.
“I am sad because my Hy-Vee is like family to me,” she said.
It didn’t end there. Gustafson continued on her Twitter tirade. Keep in mind that Sen. Jack Whitver (R-Ankeny) only beat Gustafson by three points in 2018.
