U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector’s Eagle Pass Station arrested six Eritrean nationals after they illegally entered the United States, Nov. 23-27.

On Nov. 24, agents apprehended one female and five males from Eritrea and one male from Uzbekistan near Eagle Pass, Texas. Eritrea is a northeast African country on the Red Sea coast with shared borders with Ethiopia, Sudan, and Djibouti.

Del Rio Station Border Patrol agents apprehended two males from Syria on Nov. 23, and one male from Lebanon on Nov. 26, near Del Rio, Texas. On Nov. 27, agents arrested one male from Tajikistan near Eagle Pass, Texas.

In October 2021, Del Rio Sector agents encountered 28,111 undocumented migrants from more than 50 countries.

In Fiscal Year 2021, from Oct. 1, 2020, to Sept. 30, 2021, Del Rio Sector encountered migrants from 106 different countries.

“We encounter individuals from all over the world attempting to illegally enter our country,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens. “Our agents are focused and work hard to ensure that we detect, arrest, and identify anyone that enters our country in order to maintain safety of our communities.”

The individuals were processed per U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidelines.
