Today, Representative Dean Fisher (R-Montour) announced his re-election bid for the Iowa House. Fisher currently represents House District 72. Under the newly confirmed redistricting maps, he will run for House District 53 in 2022.

“I will miss campaigning and representing the folks in Marshall, Black Hawk, and North-East Tama County, but I am looking forward to making new friends and earning the support from folks in Poweshiek County,” said Fisher.  “Poweshiek County will bring in new policy issues to deal with, but my values will not change. I will continue to fight for the lives of the unborn, secure and fair elections, our right to keep and bear arms, lower spending and taxes, and for revitalizing our rural communities.  We have made great strides since I came into the Iowa House in 2013, I’m proud of the work we’ve done, but as always there is more to do.”

Fisher is a fifth-generation Iowa farmer and owns a Heritage Farm that has been in his family since 1852. In the Iowa House, he serves as Chair of the Environmental Protection committee, in addition to serving on the Natural Resources, Public Safety and Commerce committees.

Iowa House District 53 includes all of Poweshiek County and most of Tama County. His current district, which he will continue to serve through 2022, contains all of Tama County and the South and Western portion of Marshall County.

Fisher will be seeking his sixth term in the Iowa House. He lives near Montour with his wife Vicki.
