Democrat State Rep. Sharon Steckman shared a link to a PBS article about Adolf Hitler. The dictator was responsible for millions of deaths.
Steckman added the following to the post:
“Well worth the time spent watching and a bit scary considering current circumstances.”
Democrats have spent plenty of time comparing President Donald J. Trump to dictators. Some have gone so far as to call Trump a Nazi himself.
It is disappointing to see a Democrat state representative hint at our current circumstance as anything like what happened in Germany under Hitler.
It’s inappropriate and insensitive.
More than that, it is dangerous. If and when another Hitler does rise to power, when people actually accurately compare them to Hitler, comparisons like this one will keep most from taking it seriously.
The Iowa Standard emailed Steckman to ask her for the purpose in her post and the context of her words. She did not reply.
