Much attention has been fixed on Sam Bankman-Fried lately. The founder of FTX has been accused of misappropriating billions of dollars as well as violating campaign laws. His case is described as one of America’s largest financial frauds — ever.

His political donations — and there have been a lot of them — have also been placed under a microscope.

Among his Iowa contributions are a $5,800 donation to Sen. Joni Ernst on May 24, 2022 and a $2,900 donation to Ernst that was returned the same day it was given — June 7, 2022. Odds are that was returned due to his $5,800 contribution in May. Individuals cannot exceed $2,900 in donations to a candidate committee per election — with a primary and general election counting as two separate elections.

In addition, Bankman-Fried also gave Democrat Congresswoman Cindy Axne $2,900 on Oct. 17, 2022.
