The Iowa Standard received a letter today from the Federal Aviation Administration denying expedited processing for Flight WL317 from Long Beach to Des Moines and Flight WL318 from Des Moines to Atlanta.
“You have not shown a compelling need based on imminent threat to life or physical safety to an individual, nor an urgency to inform the public of an actual or alleged FAA activity beyond the public’s right generally to know about government activity,” the letter stated.
We would of course maintain that the whereabouts of up to 100 unaccompanied minor migrants is a need based on physical safety, but government.
Nonetheless, our Freedom of Information Act request will be processed according to the number of days allotted by law.
We hope to receive more information in a timely fashion as our original FOIA request was dated May 3, 2021.
We do have contacts now for our request and will follow up with them in a swift manner. Federal agencies are expected to respond within 20 business days.
