David Young, Republican candidate for Iowa’s Third Congressional District, Thursday announced the endorsement of Former Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker and Former Senior White House Advisor Sam Clovis.

“I’m proud to endorse David Young,” said Matt Whitaker. “David has won this district twice before and he’s best suited to help us win it back. He has a strong conservative record and we need his solutions and leadership now more than ever. I’m honored to endorse him. And I look forward to voting for him.”

Sam Clovis said, “I know David Young. I admire his reverence for his Christian faith, his moral integrity and his adherence to conservative principles.  I know he will perform well in the House of Representatives, as his record indicates, and will help President Trump Keep America Great.”

“I want to thank Matt and Sam for their endorsements,” said David Young. “They are good friends and we got to know each other well while on the campaign trail in 2014, and I know they love our country and want to see what’s best for it. I’m humbled to receive their endorsements and look forward to working with them to win back the Third Congressional District.”

Matt Whitaker served as the Acting United States Attorney General under President Trump. Whitaker also served as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa under President George W. Bush, and was a member of the University of Iowa’s 1991 Rose Bowl team.

Sam Clovis served in the United States Air Force for 25 years, attaining the rank of Colonel. After retirement he taught at Morningside College in Sioux City. He was national co-chair of President Trump’s 2016 campaign, and served in the Trump administration as a Senior White House Advisor to President Trump at the United States Department of Agriculture.

David Young was elected to serve the Third Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014 and reelected in 2016. He served the influential Committee of Appropriations. Prior to his service in Congress, Young served Iowans as U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley’s Chief of Staff from 2006-2013. A graduate of Johnston High School and Drake University, Young is a seventh generation Iowan and resides in Van Meter.
