KCCI reporter calls Sen. Chapman’s remarks on media defense of sexually explicit school books ‘conspiracy theory’

The KCCI reporter who interviewed Gov. Kim Reynolds asked her about the sexually explicit, vulgar, inappropriate books shelved in Iowa school libraries. Listen to how he phrased his question:

The question begins nine seconds into the clip and the reporter said he would read the question so he doesn’t mix up the comments from Senate President Jake Chapman.

“Seemingly pushed a conspiracy theory on the Senate floor, do you support those comments,” the reporter said.

A conspiracy theory? Really? Where has this guy been? What is conspiratorial about it?

Are the books sexually explicit, vulgar and inappropriate? Well, according to Google the book “Gender Queer” has photos of adult sexual content. So, I mean, unless Google is part of some vast fringe, right-wing conspiracy, it doesn’t seem like it is a conspiracy theory.

Are the books available in school libraries? Well… I doubt these moms were just making it up. My guess is the KCCI reporter hasn’t actually heard the passages from these books.

Are there media outlets and teachers defending — DEFENDING — having these sexually explicit, vulgar, inappropriate books in school libraries? Yes.

So, what exactly is the “conspiracy theory?” Someone should ask the KCCI reporter that question.

It should be noted that the reporter sounded uncomfortable when Reynolds was reading from “All Boys Aren’t Blue.” You can hear him at the 1:59 mark.
