I would like to start this email off by saying your article was well written, but it was very biased and contained harmful wording regarding a transgender teenager.

As a company that delivers news to not only old white men, but the entirety of Iowa, you need to understand that referring to someone, who has clearly stated that are male, as “she”, “her”, and “biological female” can be harmful to not only the teenager, but multiple other people who may be taking in your content.

If you want to run a company that distributes the news fairly and in an unbiased manner, you need to understand the world around you. Living in the Midwest surrounded by small-minded people does not give you the right to misgender that poor boy and then proceed to publicly humiliate him in front of millions of Iowans.

The headline alone was atrocious and disgusting. Harassment of this sort should not be allowed within a news company. This article was truly disappointing to read as a teenager who also does not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth.

If you have any common sense, you will take this article down, or simply correct yourselves and refer to the teenager by his pronouns.
