United States Sen. Chuck Grassley, who began his political career in 1958 — when Dwight D. Eisenhower was President — spoke on Saturday night at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition Spring Kick-Off event.
Grassley spoke about how Joe Biden, whose election victory Grassley voted to certify, has risked the safety of communities with weak border security.
“We’ve made illegal many times over the last few decades that you don’t come to our country without our permission. We make the laws, but we’ve got a president that isn’t going to enforce those laws because he believes in open borders,” Grassley said.
Those are nice words, but how do they compare to Grassley’s actions?
According to Mark Levine’s Conservative Review, Grassley voted to release dangerous criminals from federal prisons on Dec. 19, 2018. Grassley’s Liberty Score from Levine’s Conservative Review is also impacted negatively by his vote to surrender on the border wall while “empowering drug cartels and human traffickers” from Feb. 14, 2019.
Again, on May 23, 2019, Grassley voted to pass a $19 billion spending bill without funding for the border crisis.
It is easy to give election-year speeches — especially when you’re running for your eighth term in the U.S. Senate. But after seven terms in the U.S. Senate, shouldn’t there be more actual accomplishments on providing border security?
