Recently there have been calls for President Joe Biden to step down from the race for President from media, politicians like Iowa’s own former Senator Tom Harkin, and others. This is a dangerous precedent to set when millions of votes have been cast for President Biden in primaries and caucuses. Having been told that policies I have voted on to make our elections safe and more secure were voter suppression bills, I can’t even explain how I feel when people are talking about nullifying millions of votes just because their candidate is doing poorly in the polls and in a debate.
In my opinion, Joe Biden is the chosen representative of the Democrat Party for President of the United States and for him to be pulled and nullify millions of votes is wrong. This is why we need to have an informed Republic and folks who are knowledgeable in what their candidates say and do, not just people who listen to a media source and believe immediately what that source says.
In fact, I feel so strongly that if President Biden is so badly affected by infirmity, then his Cabinet should invoke the 25th Amendment which allows for a way that those closest to the President can remove him from office, if he is unable to complete his duties. Specifically in Section 4 of the 25th Amendment it states: Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
If truly the President cannot discharge his duty to the point that a call is being made to nullify millions of votes across the country and replace him as the nominee of the Democrat Party, then the Cabinet must also discharge their duties and remove the President from his position. I hope this isn’t the case, but if the President is in such a condition as that and he is being left as President for political reasons then those who are doing so are hurting this country in ways that I cannot even describe.
Now, I state all the above only to say I hope and pray that none of this is the case. I hope and pray that our President is of sound mind and there would be no reason to have him removed from office using the 25th Amendment. At the same time, I hope and pray that those closest to the President would do the right thing for our Country and not do the politically expedient thing to keep and maintain power.
I hope and pray that millions of votes across our country will not be nullified by the Democrat Party because their candidate is behind in the polls. I think a race between President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump is the ticket that has been chosen and so must be the one that is run. Our politicians need to have a little intestinal fortitude and do the right thing. I had a saying, during my 25-year military stint, which is integrity is when you do the right thing, even when no one is looking. Well, the entire country is looking, and the Democrat Party needs to do the right thing.
Finally, I hope and pray that there is no plan by the Democrat Party to replace Joe Biden because their chosen Vice President has lower approval ratings than their President. These are very basic democratic principles that I am talking about. It is simple, Democrat Party, do what millions of voters have voted for, even though you knew your candidate has flaws, or nullify those votes in favor of expediency. My warning if you do that, those voters won’t soon forget your betrayal.
