Congressman Bob Good (VA-05) signed onto a joint letter led by Governor Youngkin to United States Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, calling for a permanent delay of vaccine mandates on our National Guard. Congressman Good is joined by U.S. Representatives Wittman, Griffith, and Cline on the letter.
“The Biden administration’s vaccine mandate on the brave men and women of our military is not only wrong, it has proven largely ineffective at stopping the spread of the China virus. I am proud to join Governor Youngkin and the other members of Virginia’s Republican Congressional delegation to call on the Pentagon to put an end to this executive overreach,” said Congressman Good.
Congressman Good has been working for months ahead of a July 1st deadline to help ensure that no Virginia National Guardsmen is denied the ability to serve their country due to their personal medical decision. Sadly, hundreds of Virginians who want to continue serving are in limbo awaiting a final determination of their status, many of whom have formally requested a religious or medical exemption that has not yet been adjudicated.
“If Secretary Austin and President Biden ignore our plea, it is my hope that Governor Youngkin will use his authority and exhaust every option he has to protect the members of Virginia’s National Guard from being involuntarily discharged from service,” said Good.
