Parents in the Monticello School District received an email from Brian Jaeger, the district’s superintendent. Jaeger sent an email to address an issue that has made an appearance in the district lately.
“You may or may not know that the phrase, ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ has become a part of our pop culture over the last few weeks,” he wrote. “This phrase is not appropriate at school, just as any inappropriate language or other displays of inappropriate meanings are not allowed at school.”
Jaeger told parents it is “not a political statement.”
“Students are allowed to wear clothing or display phrases that support any political party or candidate,” he said. “They just can’t wear clothing with something on it that is inappropriate for school and disruptive to the educational program.”
If students wear anything with the “Let’s Go Brandon” phrase, they’ll be asked to change clothes, turn it inside out or wear something over it before being allowed to return to class.
“Any repeated offenses will be considered a defiance of authority and the student will receive school consequences,” Jaeger wrote.
