Senate passes NDAA bill with provisions President Trump has hinted would initiate a veto

President Donald J. Trump made clear he would likely use his veto power if he received a National Defense Authorization Act that did not address Section 230, which provides legal protection to tech companies.

Yet the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate passed an NDAA that does not address Section 230. Having already cleared the U.S. House, it sets up a fight with the President.

In addition to concerns over Section 230, a provision written by Sen. Elizabeth Warren would give the Pentagon three years to rename Army bases and other military property honoring Confederate leaders.

President Trump threatened he would veto legislation that would remove Confederate names from those bases during the summer.

It will be interesting to see what President Trump decides to do with the NDAA. Senators argue the legislation isn’t the right place to address Section 230.

But, we will see.
