Congressman Randy Feenstra and Congresswoman Ashley Hinson signed H.J. Resolution 11 earlier this year. The legislation proposes a constitutional amendment to require the Supreme Court to be composed of nine justices.
Congressman Dusty Johnson of South Dakota sponsored the bill, which has 26 cosponsors.
The language of the bill is relatively simple:
“The Supreme Court of the United States shall be composed of nine justices.”
That’s it. That’s the extent of the proposed constitutional amendment.
Throughout his presidential campaign, Joe Biden refused to say whether he would pack the Supreme Court.
“I will not stand for Democrats’ attempt to pack the courts with judges who will legislate from the bench,” Hinson said. “In my first week of office, I cosponsored a constitutional amendment to keep the Supreme Court at nine justices and nine justices only.”
