The Democrat Party, the political party of “science,” is the first to select a transgender person as assistant secretary of health.
Joe Biden selected Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Rachel Levine for the position.
Biden said that Levine will bring steady leadership and essential expertise to get America through the pandemic.
Biden said Levine (referring to Levine as “she”) is a “historic and deeply qualified choice.”
According to Levine’s Wikipedia page, Levine trained in pediatrics at New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital. Levine, who has two children, transitioned in 2011. Levine divorced Martha Peaslee Levine in 2013.
