Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following statement, echoing Congresswoman Miller-Meeks’s (IA-02) call for the U.S. House of Representatives to dismiss petition challenging the election results in Iowa’s Second Congressional District.

“Iowans elected Congresswoman Miller-Meeks to represent them in Washington. The votes were counted, the race was called, and the results have been certified.

“This petition brazenly disregards the law, longstanding precedent, and the will of Iowa voters in the hopes that Speaker Pelosi will break the rules and overturn the certified election results on the floor of the House for her own expedience.

“States decide electionsnot Congress, and certainly not Speaker Pelosi. Overturning this certified election would be an insult to Iowa voters.

“The House should dismiss this petition immediately and Congresswoman Miller-Meeks should continue to serve those who elected her.”
