The Pennsylvania Secretary of State is going to resign due to her office’s failure to advertise a proposed constitutional amendment that would extend the statute of limitations for survivors of childhood sex abuse to file actions against their abusers.

Kathy Boockvar, who was a strong critic of President Donald J. Trump and was in the spotlight of Pennsylvania’s suspected voter fraud or election law infractions, will resign effective Feb. 5 according to Gov. Tom Wolf.

Wolf said her resignation had nothing to do with Boockvar’s oversight of the Presidential election.

“I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished for the people of Pennsylvania,” Boockvar said. “I’ve always believed that accountability and leadership must be a cornerstone of public service. While I only became aware of the mistake last week, and immediately took steps to alert the administration to the error, I accept the responsibility on behalf of the department.”
