The Equality Act, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives, is expected to receive a committee hearing in the Senate.

Reports indicate a hearing will take place in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley is the ranking member of the committee.

The Iowa Standard asked his office if Sen. Grassley had any thoughts on the radical bill that will have a significant impact on the religious liberty of Americans.

Grassley’s staff said he will attend this week’s hearing on the bill and is “looking forward” to the discussion and hearing from a variety of perspectives about the proposal.

“Generally speaking, Sen. Grassley supports religious freedom protections and is skeptical of proposals that could erode those protections,” Grassley’s office said.
