Every time there’s a mass shooting, leftists exploit it, demanding new laws infringing on the Second Amendment.
The Biden/Harris administration is beating the drums for gun control. Congressional Democrats had already teed up gun control bills before the killings at three Georgia massage parlors and the mass murder at a Boulder, Colorado supermarket.
We’re now being told, predictably, that our country is awash in mass shootings and that we need to have a national gun registry that includes even where people store their firearms.
We supposedly need “red flag” laws, which bar gun purchases by people deemed to be threats to public safety, which can be in the eye of the beholder and can easily be abused by power-crazed public officials.
While no one wants criminals and the mentally deranged to have firearms, the Left’s real agenda is quite clear: Create a legal climate in which guns can be seized without due process.
Erich Pratt is the author of Bearing Arms: Our Rights, Our Duties & Our Freedoms, and also a civil government textbook, The Constitutional Recipe for Freedom.
“The very survival of America as we know it is at stake, especially if Democrats succeed in eliminating the Senate filibuster – a procedure which effectively requires legislators to first garner 60 votes (out of 100) before they can move legislation,” Gun Owners of America’s website warns.
“In an apocalyptic environment where the filibuster has been eradicated, you can expect to see a Democrat Congress ramming through gun bans, gun owner registration and more.
“And to make sure that everything they do is ruled ‘legal,’ anti-gun Democrats have threatened to pack the U.S. Supreme Court.”
How can Americans stop these aggressive threats to our constitutional right to bear arms?
Erich Pratt is senior vice president for Gun Owners of America, where he has been employed since 1990. GOA is a national grassroots organization representing more than 2 million Americans dedicated to promoting their Second Amendment freedom to keep and bear arms.
