Over the weekend The Iowa Standard reached out to Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds’ communication director. We asked if Gov. Reynolds had made any public comments regarding vaccine passports.

Reynolds has not made any public comments about the passports, but we were told she is not in favor of them.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has banned government-mandated vaccine passports in his state. Abbott’s order also bans “organizations receiving public funds from requiring consumers to provide documentation of vaccine status in order to receive any service or enter any place.”

Abbott talked about his executive order in this video:

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee announced he will support legislation prohibiting any government-mandated COVID-19 vaccine passport.

Lee said that the vaccine “should be a personal health choice, not a government requirement.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been perhaps the first GOP governor in the fight. He signed an executive order last week banning the use of COVID-19 vaccine passports in his state.

DeSantis said implementing the passports would “create two classes of citizens.”

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem called vaccine passports “oppressive.”

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts already said his state would not participate in any “vaccine passport” programs.
