Yesterday The Iowa Standard shared news from Long Beach Local News that an April 22 flight from Long Beach to Des Moines carried almost 100 unaccompanied minors. Long Beach Local News speculated the children would be held at the Polk County Jail, however Gov. Kim Reynolds’ office has said there are no migrant children at the Polk County Jail.

The Iowa Standard did confirm a World Atlantic flight did leave Long Beach on April 22 and did land in Des Moines. It then left Des Moines for Atlanta.

We have messages out to various individuals as we attempt to get more information on these two flights.

The additional information we have is from ICE, which said it does not have legal authority to detain unaccompanied children.

Speculation is the flight involved the Department of Health and Human Services.
