Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) Border Patrol agents successfully foil five human smuggling attempts and apprehend 172 migrants.
Yesterday morning, RGV Border Patrol agents, with assistance from the Starr County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended 64 migrants from a human smuggling stash house located in Rio Grande City, Texas. The migrants are citizens of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. All of the noncitizens were taken into Border Patrol custody.
Yesterday evening, agents assigned to the Weslaco Border Patrol Station responded to a call for assistance from the Donna Police Department with a possible human smuggling stash house in Donna, Texas. Upon arrival at the residence, agents encountered 53 undocumented noncitizens. The migrants were from Mexico and Central America. No principal or caretaker was identified at the location. All migrants were transported to a Border Patrol station for processing.
Additionally, RGV agents apprehended a total of 55 migrants in three separate failed human smuggling attempts.
All subjects are being processed accordingly.
Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation. The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
