We now know what it looked like on Friday when two adults visited the Pella Aquatic Center on Friday wearing the opposite gender’s swim attire. A photo was publicly shared to Facebook allegedly by the individuals who showed up at the aquatic center in the opposite gender swim attire.
It was shared along with the caption: “We came to Pella to support out (sic) brother in the community.”
Three lifeguards and one concession worker walked off the job Friday. One lifeguard had previously quit after the city council doubled down on its policy to allow individuals — including minors — to wear attire that conforms with their gender identity rather than biological sex.
Pella police were also sent to the aquatic center on Friday, but The Iowa Standard was told no arrests or citations were made.
