IFC Members and Iowans at large know Congress has no business hiding new “Gun Control” measures in unrelated bills for the sake of paying back Pelosi’s and Schumer’s special interest financiers.  Even as IFC is waiting to learn if such unconstitutional provisions will be removed from the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a new and very real threat has emerged.

Senator Ernst (R-IA) is currently negotiating the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act – H.R. 1620 (VAWA).  This bill contains provisions adding President Biden’s gun control measures to existing law. These changes are unnecessary and deceitful.  Congress can appropriate funds to continue enforcement of this two-decade-old Act without changing a word if they opt to do so.  Alternatively, they can authorize this bill with changes.  But they don’t have to authorize, or in this case reauthorize, this Act with these draconian new gun control measures in place.

The specific problems are these:

  • Section 102: Includes federal grants to fund firearm seizures.
  • Sections 801 and 802: Includes a new form of “red flag” gun confiscation orders and new and expanded misdemeanor gun bans.
  • Sections 1201 and 1202: Provides greater funding to prosecute tens of thousands of NICS denials—including law-abiding gun owners who receive false-positive denials.
  • Section 1203: Provides special appointments and deputations to prosecute new gun controls

Contact Senator Ernst and urge her to strip those sections from the bill.  IFC and Iowans at large can’t stomach any of them!
