U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an illegal individual Saturday night with a prior sexual offense conviction.

At approximately 11:56 p.m., agents encountered three individuals who illegally entered the United States, through the mountains of the Jacumba Wilderness Region. The individuals were arrested and transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.

Record checks revealed that one of the individuals, a 49-year-old Mexican national has prior criminal and immigration history. This individual was previously convicted for a sexual offense: sexual battery: sex arousal, where he served 75 days in jail with three-years’ probation. Additionally, this individual was previously ordered to be removed from the U.S. by an immigration judge.

Since Oct. 1, 2021, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and/or removed nine individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges.

U.S. Border Patrol will process the individuals accordingly.
