Summit Carbon Solutions was on our road the other day surveying. One of the surveyors told me that Summit will be piping the CO2 underground to lift the oil in the Bakken oilfields. If what he says is true, Summit lied to everyone in their Iowa Utilities Board sanctioned “Informational” meetings. They told us that the CO2 would be sequestered underground in order to “save” the planet. On their website under the Q & A tabs they clearly state “Carbon sequestration in Summit Carbon’s network will be permanently stored in an area of North Dakota where no enhanced oil recovery operations occur.” Yet if you see the map of the proposed pipeline it ends at the edge of the Bakken oilfields. Is Summit using our land and our tax dollars to make money for themselves? We let folks like this call themselves Republicans and wonder why so many people hate us.
I thank the Iowa Legislature for endeavoring to find a way to protect landowners from eminent domain. One good way would be to knock on our Governor’s door since it is she who appoints the Iowa Utilities Board.
That said, now the government must stop funding these individuals with subsidies and return all of us to a free market system. We the People can then keep our money to invest it how we see fit rather than allowing government bureaucrats to decide for us. It would be good to see a day when all of us can make money, not just people like Bruce Rastetter and his fancy friends.
