Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene continues leading the way in Washington D.C. MTG introduced the “Protect Children’s Innocence Act” and held a press conference about the bill this week.
“Children who are not allowed to drive, vote, or see an R-rated movie should not be allowed to make life-altering decisions that will forever alter their precious bodies,” MTG said in an email. “While the Communist Democrats take aim at your children, I will continue doing everything in my power to protect our children’s innocence.”
MTG said such treatments should “never happen in America.”
“There’s an ideology that is sexualizing children and pushing this among the most innocent kids, the most vulnerable in all of our society, and it has to end,” she said. “We want to protect kids. Republicans are the party of protecting children.”
The medical industry is making “billions” of dollars, MTG said, off these “genital mutilation surgeries on kids.”
“These are the things that nightmares are made of,” she said. “Not only is it happening to kids and they are thinking they are doing the right thing, many of them are realizing years later, just when they get a little bit older, that they have made a tragic mistake — and the damage is undoable. It’s permanent.”
The bill isn’t an attack on anyone’s sexuality, or that adults can’t make changes they want to make, but it does protect kids under 18.
“The reason why it has to be a federal law is because there are states who are taking away parents’ rights to protect their kids from these horrific surgeries,” she said. “States like California, Washington, New York and other Democrat-controlled states want to fast-track kids and tell parents they have no right to take away their children’s desire for ‘gender-affirming care.'”
California has a bill on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk that removes parental rights to stop such procedures. It would make California a sanctuary state for trans kids.
“What it would actually do is it would make California a state-sponsored state for child abuse,” MTG said. “Sexual child abuse. Children should not be sexualized and they should not be undergoing medical procedures like this.”
There were 12 original cosponsors on MTG’s legislation. There are now 42 — however none from Iowa.
