Congressman Good (R-VA) introduced the Trucking Workforce Improvement Act to repeal a new burdensome federal regulation on training for a commercial driver’s license (CDL).  This unnecessary regulation currently in effect mandates that truckers complete a federal government approved Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) in order to acquire a CDL license.

“Our farmers and manufacturers need to move their products to market, but they are facing a shortage in the trucking industry. The last thing Washington should do in this national shortage is impose more regulations that make it harder to find new drivers,” said Congressman Good (R-VA). “While the primary focus of the Biden Administration should be rebuilding the economy and putting Americans back to work so they can put food on the table for their families, they are piling on unnecessary burdens and costs on jobseekers. It will only deter qualified candidates, who need jobs quickly, from applying for these essential trucking positions. My Trucking Workforce Improvement Act of 2022 will remove these unnecessary regulations and put qualified applicants on the fast track to securing much-needed, well-paid jobs.”
