On Thursday, Zach Nunn took to Fox News’ Fox and Friends First to hit back over Axne’s recent comments calling Nunn a ‘racist’ for wanting to prioritize national security and secure the southern border.
Nunn fired back at Axne, saying “We are facing a national security and a humanitarian crisis at our border…We’ve been to the border, our opponent has not. I’ve served on militarily operations to protect the southern border, our opponent and the Biden administration seem to turn a blind eye.”
He continued, saying “We talked to Customs and Border Patrol, my opponent would call them racist, one of the most diverse agencies in the federal government today!”
Nunn finished by saying, “Communities like mine have seen an influx of illegal drugs, primarily deadly fentanyl, that now kills more Americans ages 18 to my age than anything else in the country. Well if we try to stop it, then we must be racist.”
Nunn traveled to visit the border in August as our country approached a record 2 million apprehensions at the border in fiscal year 2022. The visit highlights a contrast in priorities between Nunn and his opponent Cindy Axne, who has never visited the southern border and claimed in a debate that she didn’t need to go to the border.
