Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement shared the following in an email in late June:
In late June, President Trump abruptly suspended his wide-ranging threat to deport “millions” of undocumented immigrants, but not before communities across the country mobilized in preparation for raids.
We know the future will bring more attacks on our communities, and we can use this time to prepare. Here’s what United We Dream and RAICES advise people to do if ICE comes knocking.
Share these Know Your Rights info cards from United We Dream (in 11 languages, including English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, Korean, Marathi, Vietnamese, and Tagalog) with folks who may need them.
Remember that not everyone who needs this information will be online! Use this as an opportunity to check in with friends and neighbors in person.
It’s important to spread factual information about ICE activity – without sowing panic. If you see ICE activity in Central Iowa, call the bilingual ICE Rapid Response Hotline at (515) 996-0003.
