Seventy percent of likely U.S. voters support establishing term limits for all members of Congress according to a new Rasmussen Reports national phone and online survey. Just 15 percent of voters oppose term limits.
Seventy-three percent of voters want Sen. Mitch McConnell, 81, to resign his position as Senate Minority Leader.
Term limits are popular regardless of political party, with 76 percent of Republicans supporting them and 68 percent of Democrats and unaffiliated voters backing them.
Congress, though, would have to approve any amendment to place term limits on itself by a two-thirds vote. Just 23 percent of voters believe Congress would vote to place meaningful term limits on its members.
