Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks has been serving as one of Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s most outspoken supporters the last couple of days. Miller-Meeks said that Rep. Matt Gaetz must have a “very inflated sense of himself” and that vacating the chair was a “bad move.”
As pointed out by State Rep. Austin Harris, who served as deputy chief of staff for Miller-Meeks, nobody in D.C. thought Miller-Meeks had a chance to stop congressional Democrats from overturning her six-vote win.
“Except for Kevin McCarthy,” Harris said. “He and his team stood by us every step of the way. He helped us raise the money to pay the lawyers. He made sure she was able to be seated. And he rallied the caucus around us. And when things looked bleak, he came to the district to show his support. I will always have great respect for Speaker McCarthy.”
Miller-Meeks claimed House Republicans have had a “tremendously successful” nine months with McCarthy serving as Speaker. She said they have passed single-bill appropriations that were agreed upon and done but voted down due to rules on the House floor. She listed off some of those accomplishments under McCarthy as Speaker and called it “counter-productive” for some Republicans to work with Democrats to oust McCarthy.
When pressed by Eric Bolling on the promises Gaetz claimed McCarthy failed to keep, she pivoted and called Gaetz’s move to vacate the chair “selfish.”
“It did nothing to help people,” she said. “It’s not doing anything to solve our debt. We control one half of one-third of government. He would not have gotten any better deal, any better budget cuts or any better negotiations. He is aware he would not have been able to dot hat.”
Instead, Miller-Meeks said, Gaetz and others are fundraising off the vote while the rest are trying to decide who to vote for Speaker and how to get the House back on track.
“There was never any agreement that the appropriations bills had to be passed by a certain period of time,” she said.

How can you derail an appropriation process that already failed to deliver appropriation bills. You had 9+ months. What you did was support a debt suspension and CR to continue supporting the Biden administration. How is that different than Democrats?

You didn't answer why you handed our hard earned money to Ukraine? A lot of jargon…not a lot (no) data, figures or math. How do you plan to adequately fund our country when our rate of change in debt is exponential last 15 years? Specifics please.
