Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement following House Republicans calling on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and prosecutor Matthew Colangelo to appear before Congress:
“With this conviction, the American people have seen yet another step in radical progressive Democrats’ weaponization of the justice system. It is contrary to representative government, the rule of law, and the founding principles that make this country great.
I support the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government’s invitation to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, lead prosecutor Matthew Colangelo, and former Federal Election Commissioner Brad Smith to testify on the case brought against former President Trump. But it will take more than hearings — the GOP must radically constrain the power of government — by cutting spending used to fund this tyranny, firing bureaucrats, and legally holding people accountable.”
