The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) today unanimously adopted U.S. Senator Josh Hawley’s (R-Mo.) amendment requiring Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe to submit to HSGAC, the committee of jurisdiction, any and all information in its possession pertaining to the July 13 assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
HSGAC Chairman Gary Peters (D-Mich.) also pledged to vote on related legislation in committee next week.
“Given the way that Secret Service and DHS has stonewalled this committee […] I just think it’s incumbent upon us to say we want this information,” Senator Hawley noted, urging his colleagues’ support for his legislation.
“We’re one step closer to the truth,” Senator Hawley added, upon passage of his amendment.
Senator Hawley originally filed his amendment back in July immediately following the first failed assassination attempt against former President Trump in Butler, Pa.
As part of his ongoing investigation into the July 13 Butler, Pa., rally, Senator Hawley unveiled a comprehensive whistleblower report earlier this week, chronicling the failures of Secret Service and the Biden-Harris Department of Homeland Security to protect former President Trump.
