Friday, the American Principles Project released findings from a new poll of 602 likely voters in the important 2020 battleground state of Michigan. The poll, taken from March 30 to April 1, showed both the presidential and Senate races within the 4 percent margin of error:

Presidential Ballot

  • Donald Trump (R): 46.2%
  • Joe Biden (D): 45.8%

Senate Ballot

  • Gary Peters (D): 42.2%
  • John James (R): 40.2%

The poll also showed Donald Trump with a positive approval rating in the state, with 51.1 percent approving of his job performance versus 47.1 percent disapproving.

In response to the poll findings, Terry Schilling, executive director at American Principles Project, released the following statement:

These are very encouraging numbers for President Trump and Republicans. Despite the constant negative press coverage he has received, especially during the current health crisis, the President continues to hold a strong level of support from Michigan voters. And moreover, the state’s Senate seat is also very much in play and could provide the GOP with a key pickup opportunity.

There is no doubt that Michigan will be a critical battleground in November to determine the balance of power in Washington. APP looks forward to engaging in this campaign in the fall.
