U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector recently arrested two convicted sex offenders.

April 13, Del Rio Station agents arrested 42-year-old Humberto Alvarez-Peralta, a Mexican national, shortly after he illegally entered the United States. During processing, records checks revealed that Alvarez-Peralta was convicted of sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony, in Liberty, in 1997.

Alvarez-Peralta has been removed from the United States 10 times within the last two years and was most recently deported in March of this year.

April 14, Comstock Station agents arrested 63-year-old Hipolito Hernandez-Acosta, a Mexican national, just after making illegal entry into the United States. During processing, record checks revealed he was convicted of statutory rape, in Georgia, in 1995.

Hernandez-Acosta has a lengthy criminal and immigration history. He has been ordered removed on three separate occasions, with the last being in March 2020.

As convicted felons with prior removals, both subjects face a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – Re-entry After Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

Since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2022, Oct. 1, through February 28, Del Rio Sector has arrested 19 convicted sex offenders.
